Come and learn from Jodi Brandon, also known as Biimskanodin (in the Ojibwe language), meaning Little Whirlwind, a name given to her name by her grandmother because she was curious and always causing a stir! She will share her knowledge about the people indigenous to the Great Lakes Area, both past and present, and focus on similarities and positive interactions through sharing our cultures to create bonds among native and non-native peoples.
Join us for a presentation and discussion of some of Canton’s worship sites from panelists Elaine Jeris of Resurrection Parish, Carol Isakson of Geneva Presbyterian, and Vijaya K Sastry of the Hindu Temple. Learn about their buildings and membership histories that will expand our understanding about our diverse Canton community of today.
The Guest Speaker Series 2025-2026 is sponsored by the Canton Historical Society and the Canton Public Library. We continue to work hard to provide speakers to share and discuss a variety of historical topics that remain relevant to our lives today. We welcome you to join us and to learn more about the history of our community and its people.
A suggested donation of $5-10 is requested, however, there is no fee to attend.
The Canton Historical Society is an all-volunteer, 501c3 nonprofit organization and we rely on donations from community members like you.
