Community Outreach Interpreters from the Huron Clinton Metroparks will discuss this and more.

THE DETROIT LIONS AND THE EARLY NFL
Jeremy Dimick, Director of Collections and Curatorial at the Detroit Historical Society, will present the story of the Detroit Lions and the early NFL. Learn how they eventually won the hearts of Detroiters from professional football’s earliest days, through its golden age in the 1950’s, then into the present day.

AMERICAN ARCHITECTURE
Tyler Moll, City of Wayne Historical Museum Director, will explore American architecture and style as well as the variety of housing designs and floorplans commonly utilized throughout Michigan, the Midwest and beyond.

GENEALOGY: STORYTELLING TECHNIQUES TO ENRICH YOUR FAMILY NARRATIVE
Author and storytelling coach, Laura Hedgecock, shares practical and accessible ways to turn family history research into compelling narratives. Learn how to apply elements of great stories—plot, character, setting, and story arc—to create engaging, people-centered accounts.
The Guest Speaker Series 2026 is sponsored by the Canton Historical Society, in collaboration with the Canton Public Library, and a generous grant from Canton's Partnership for the Arts. We continue to work hard to provide speakers to share and discuss a variety of historical topics that remain relevant to our lives today. We welcome you to join us to learn more about the history of our community and its people. Guest lectures are generally suited for those aged 16+ unless otherwise noted.
A suggested donation of $5-10 is requested. There is no fee to attend.
